During a recent fact-finding trip to Kenya, ACIS director and webmaster,
David Steggall was asked if it would be possible for our organisation
to set up a way for people in Kenya to find a pen-pal in the UK, Europe
or the USA.
So, here was are! A page for you to register your interest
in contacting someone in Kenya by email.
KCIS supports a school on the Coast and we have a Children's
Home in Kisii, near Lake Victoria. Many of the children, helpers, teachers
and other staff at both these locations would like to write to an English-speaking
person in the UK, Europe or the USA. So we are not limited to children.
There are adults out there, too!
How it works
You register by clicking the link below, giving your
details, and age group and gender of the person you would like to have
as a pen-pal.
Although we do not ban adults from having a child as
a pen-pal, all correspondence will be vetted before being passed on
to the child in question to protect our children, most of whom are already
vunerable due to their circumstances.
English is not the first language in Kenya. It is taught
at junior school in most areas, but people living in rural areas may
have difficulties in reading and writing. For this reason, correspondance
may be translated by a carer, parent, teacher, helper, etc.
